ICE To See You!

When men were men! I was pumped to bust out a roadie ride this morn. Since it still has last years crap on it I didn't care how much salt was still on the roads. Besides, it rained from 430pm to about 2am and that just washed off the salt a little bit more so it should have been good to go. So I get up this morn, walk outside and fall on my ass as we had a thin coat of ice everywhere. Not a good thing for roadie tires. So back in the garage the road bike go's and out with the winter bike as usual. I hate road rides on MTB's.

After insisting I was riding the roadie, and telling everyone I was doing so, I had to make a few quick calls to tell the less informed to put them away. So off we go. The biggest problem after a while is where ever there was shade, there was ice. We had about 5 riders hit the pavement, not seeing the black ice. Me included. One stretch was so icy that a majority of riders walked the 30 yards or so of ice and even some of the walkers went down. Nobody hurt too bad so it's all good for a laugh now.

Its all fun until someone gets hurt, and then its hilarious.

So it was a all road ride for us today. And really was the most treacherous conditions I have seen on the road for a long time. But we all made it home in one piece. I could tell the boys of summer (roadies) are just bustin to come out as we had a few of them on the ride today. The guys we have not seen since last Nov.

Then, after the ride I grabbed my ski's for what I believe was the last ski of the year. The snow was minimal at best and you needed to stay in the woods where no sun hit. But it was cool to ski in short sleeves, no gloves and a baseball hat. It was fun.

Then, when I got home I did the ritual of cleaning the ski's, putting on a fresh coat of wax, and putting them up in the garage, their final resting place till next winter. That made me sad.

So while I was in my garage I put my project fixxie SS in the stand and started messin with it till I felt better.

That's the ticket! I felt much better!
